What’s going on in PR and Communications?

Summer Social Success

After a busy summer in PR, what better way is there to relax than chewing the fat over with colleagues in the industry? A good turnout for the meeting was followed by plenty of chat and merriment at the NUJ’s Chapel Bar in Kings Cross.

We’ll be planning a Christmas social in the next month so any suggestions please email Branch Secretary Natasha Wright to let us know your suggestions.

Membership increase at 38 Degrees

A big welcome to our new members in 38 Degrees who have joined the union and the branch recently. We look forward to introducing them at our next meeting. The best way to protect yourself at work is to join the union and then set up a chapel within the workplace. You only need 3 members in your workplace to set up a chapel. The branch is here to help you so get in touch.

Health and Wellbeing in the Workplace

The branch will be holding a special event with invited speakers on Tuesday November 12 at 6pm. There will be a Q+A and a chance to meet others in the PR industry.

Our industry is one where stress levels are high due to pressure with deadlines and mutli platform working.

This coupled with many of our members working in isolation – either solo working for medium sized organisations or as part of small comms teams working for big firms with a long hours culture, means many are putting their mental health at risk.

Please join us on the 12th

And finally…

We are seeking members to volunteer as auditors for the branch accounts. It is a small amount of work and is a legal requirement. Anyone who is interested in the post should contact branch secretary Natasha Wright.

Upcoming events

Your next branch meeting will take place THIS WEDNESDAY 9 October 2019 at 6.30pm at the NUJ Headland House. This is your chance to have a voice and get more involved in your union.
